Our Learning December 4th-7th

 Our Learning

Math: In math this week we continued our investigation into adding strategies. So far we have learned how to add numbers to 10 using number paths(number lines), blocks, pictures and 10 frames. We also started discussing graphing this week. We talked about how graphs help us process information in an easy way. Then we learned how to gather data when we surveyed the class about our favourite winter treats and activities. Finally we used that information to create a simple bar graph.

Literacy: In writing this week we finished our retelling of the story the mitten. We have been working so hard to retell the events of the story. From losing to the mitten all the way to bear's sneeze making the animals fly everywhere! During writing we are really focusing on learning the important structures of a sentence. Uppercase at the beginning, period at the end, and spaces between all of the words.

Social Studies: In social studies we started to learn about celebration and traditions. We learned that different groups (countries, families, religions) can have different celebrations and traditions that are unique to them. As a class we discussed some of the celebrations that we recognize and started to learn about Christmas. We are really excited to learn about many different celebrations!

Special Events: This week were so lucky to have the Winter Market and the Book Fair the students were SO excited to participate in these events.
