Our Learning Writing:   This week in writing we learned about how we can share our ideas through detailed pictures as well as words. We learned that in order for our picture to tell a story it needs to have the 3 W's - a who, a what, and a where. We have also been practicing our letter printing. First we learned how to make a "magic c". It's magic because it the base for many other letters that we write including o, a, e, s, q, and d. Math:   In math we have been learning about all the different ways we can show numbers. We discovered that we can show numbers with pictures, words, numerals, base ten blocks, ten frames and tallies. We have been practicing using 10 frames and base 10 blocks to represent numbers up to 10. We have also been practicing counting to 20 and even counted all the way up to 100 once! Our Learning Writing:   In writing this week we got to start using our new green writing journals. We have been learning how to follow step by step drawings. This week we drew a jellyfish, cow, bee, pizza,  and a frog. After we drew our pictures we worked together to sound out words that described them and then wrote them in our journal too. We picked words like purple, big, yellow, and cheese.   Math: In math this week we started to learn our teen numbers. These are the numbers from 10 to 19. We used base ten blocks to make these numbers. It helped us to learn what they looked like.  .                        Gym: In gym this week we got to play with the parachute. Some of our favourite parachute games were popcorn, change about, and making a mushroom.  Our school will be having our Terry Fox Run on September 27th.  What Did we Learn This Week in Room 8 Math: This week in math we have been reviewing our numbers and numerals to 10. We are working hard on learning how to legibly write the numerals.  Literacy: In writing this week we have been working on our all about me booklets. We are practicing our coping skills and building up our stamina to work on bigger, longer projects.  We are starting to review our letters on the alphabet and their related sounds. So far we have reviewed the letters Ss, Aa, and Tt. We are practicing hearing these sounds at the beginning, and ends of words and listening for how we can blend them together into words.  Social Studies: This week in social studies we have been talking about what it means to belong to a group/community and what responsibilities we have as community members.
